ABOUT US

The IBFICU (Israeli Academy Canine Unit and Yeshiva) is a group of Jews from around the world, who have come together to join in the struggle to defend Jews in Israel against Terror attacks.

The IBFICU deploys volunteers in Jewish towns in Judea, Samaria and wherever they are needed.

The IBFICU also has a special K-9 unit (see our K-9 unit link for more details on our K-9 services.)

The IBFICU offers housing, training and food for all volunteers and also offers a tactical Ulpan course, Torah classes, defense training and plenty of hours of guard duty.

Volunteers who wish to enroll in local college or to help local farms with agricultural work can be attached to local farms and colleges.
An option exists for members to join the I.D.F. and to do part of their service in the IBFICU. 20 of our volunteers are presently serving in the I.D.F. after a tour of training and guarding with the IBFICU. These members who received excellent training with the IBFICU and who gained hands - on experience guarding with the IBFICU before they joined the I.D.F., entered Tzahal with the motivation and skills to turn them into exemplary and outstanding soldiers. Some remain in the IBFICU during and after their service to volunteer guarding or to help instruct.

While most of our volunteers receive no salary, serious recruits, who sign on for 1 year or longer can apply for scholarships after their first month of service.
A typical day might consist of:

7:00 am Shachrit
8:00 am Defense training
10:00 am Ulpan
11:00 am Torah lecture
12:00 pm Lunch
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm work on local farm, college, Yeshiva or touring
4:00 - 6:00 pm dog handler's course for those serving in K-9 unit
6:00 pm dinner
after dinner 4-7 hour guard duty shifts

The dog handlers are also kept busy most of the afternoon, for their first four months of service in theoretical and practical K-9 courses. The dog handlers also awaken earlier to begin caring for and feeding dogs. Dog handlers will generally do less guard duty during their training period to accommodate their more intense schedule.

The above schedule is only a sample. Schedule may vary depending on where one is stationed.
Presently members of the IBFICU help defend Tapuach, Tapuach West and Kiryat Arba. IBFICU K-9's have been placed in hiil 26, Yitzhar, Itamar and Southern Hebron hills.
